Mr. Boots and the Plane
So Mr. Boots took a ride with his dad today in a small aircraft. Don't worry, he made it back safely...but he and I (somewhat) was concerned. His dad recently earned his pilots license and Mr. Boots was his second passenger (which is the scary part). He got some really cool aerial photos that I will have to upload from the computer. But between work and college classes...my time is dwindling.
Flip flops are not optional
Well the new dress code with my district have proved, flip flops are not optional. We are to dress professional. Well let me tell you what dressing professional means, I am supposed to run up and down the hill in heels. What happened here is irreversible damage to my feet. I have blisters, sores and blood in places that I did not think were possible. I have now resorted to borrowing my mothers shoes...I might have to make a visit to Dr. McDreamy (Her Orthopedist). I guess it wouldn't be that bad.

Fishing & Picnics
I LOVE MY BROTHER!!!!!
Today we went to a local lake with my family. We took the kids fishing...or attempted to take the kids fishing. Sandal Boy tangled himself in the fishing line. And Princess Flip Flop said after 2 casts...there are no fish in this lake.
(My favorite picture-he looks like a real fisherman!)
The highlight of the trip was when Mr. Boots came over to tell me that Princess Flip Flop had taken candy from a stranger and it was in her mouth when he took it out. After much yelling, talking, and asking questions (um did you know Snow White ate a poisonous apple?)...at which point I was getting ready to go "talk" to the people that gave her the candy. She bursts into tears...okay I will tell you the truth...I FOUND A PIECE OF CANDY IN THE SAND AND PUT IT IN MY MOUTH. UM HELLO?!? I then said "why don't you just chew gum from under tables?" She says, "I can do that?" Holy cow. I tell her she is one of the smartest 1st graders I know and that is the stupidest thing she has ever done.

I have included some random pictures from the day.

1st Grade...
1st Grade Pictures
So Princess Flip Flop started FIRST GRADE today...man I feel old! I dragged her hiney out of bed at 6:30AM. I had a meeting that I could not miss. I missed taking her to school...I was sad...she was sad. So I got her up at 6:30 to get her ready and take her picture on the steps. My mom always did this...now I have started too...why? I do not know. Anyways...day one went well. She liked her teacher and...well everyone!!!! She came home with one paper she colored...IN THE LINES!!! She read me Go Dog Go! tonight...hello...long book! I am hoping she keeps her talking to a minimum and has a great first grade experience!

Last Summer Days...
Today is my last summer day at home...:( It is also Sandal Boy's first day at daycare for the year. He just walked in like no big deal. No tears...nothing. Not that I want him to cry...but gosh at least feel somewhat sad? He wanted to know where the babe(that is how he says it) is. The babysitter had a baby and he is obsessed with babies right now. I am sure he will have a great day. New this year...they have to sleep on the floor...verses the crib he has always slept in there! Good luck to her!

Summer Loving...
So many fun things and many sad things have happened in our household this summer, I will not elaborate on all of them now. But those that know me...know that it has been a summer.
Many of you know that I get my summer off...I work for a local school system and that is one of the perks that I get. I CHERISH my 11 weeks off...77 days...110,880 minutes...student free. I do get easily frustrated as to having to be a mom full time. This weekend is the time I sit back and feel sorry for myself that I have to go back to work (I know...stupid...but I still do it and deserve to do it) and also reflect on the summer I got to spend with my kids. About 4 years ago I got a really good job offer from a private practice firm...4 days a week (10 hour days) year round...for a shoe load of money...I really contemplated it...but sat back at the time and thought, Princess Flip Flop will have (and provided at the time she was the only shoe) 12 summers at home before she left for other shoe lands, and I didn't want her to have to be in daycare....plus...with other holiday breaks & snow days...I could potentially get 17 WEEKS off a year...hello! They only offered 11 days a year...WHAT is that about? Okay totally off track...obviously I didn't take the job.
For 11 weeks...we have swam...played...ate...got hurt...drank...drank some more(me that is) and traveled. And we have had fun. Real fun. Fun that I think the kids have really enjoyed (even thought Sandal Boy would say no, he says no to everything). I let them do things I have never let happen before..tubing...water slides...roller coasters...sleep overs...crossing the street...solo trips to the park...(I could go on and on). Because...when you think about it..our parents had no idea what we were doing...as long as we were home when the street lights came on.
Here are some quote from Princess Flip Flop (Sandal Boy just says words-not quote worthy...YET!)
-If you need me, I will be hiding behind you (as the dragonflies are dive bombing us in the pool).
-Save yourself (again Dragonflies)
-Goodtimes, goodtimes.
-I am such a loser, I don't even know when the president was born. (um neither do I, nor do I care)
-People are going to wonder what happened to my head (she so wants people to ask)
-I need a cellphone, "why", to text and call my peeps!!!!!
-I can't wait to hear what my brothers voice sounds like when he talks.
My hope is...that some day they will look back and realize that I cannot volunteer in their classrooms...be a room mom...take them to 1st grade for the first time:(...or even pick them up from school...but that they get to spend their summers swimming and having fun with me..no questions or rules really enforced. Scary I know but the truth.

I have been told I should write a book or something about my kids funny things they do and say...so here we go. For those that know me...I wanted to maintain my families privacy so I wanted to write a pseudo blog. I hope you won't OUT my kids and family in comments! This is what I have come up with. Flip Flops Optional. Anyone who knows me knows I have a shoe problem, among other things, but Flip Flops are kinda an obsession. I have like 10 pairs of black flip flops alone. So stick around and enjoy the walk....
